A clear sky over Milan
What to do on a clear day, one of those when even Milan seems to sparkle? Go up to the terrace of the Duomo or to Montagnetta Park so at least you can see the mountains? Here’s a better idea: the Dorsale Lariana. Even good when Milan is swathed in fog but the sun is shining just a little higher up. Train to Como, funicular railway to Brunate and in an hour and a half max, first along little roads, then tracks and finally a path, you come to the crest. Up here you have a 360° view of the whole chain of the Alps and, if it has been windy, right to the Apennines. Milan is there in the middle of the plain, its skyscrapers just visible in the haze.
