Mosaics grand tour
This “grand tour” aiming at discovering incredible mosaics heritage in the North–East part of Italy starts from the very well known Ravenna. The Basilicas of San Vitale and Sant’Apollinare, the Mausoleo of Galla Placidia, the Battistero of Ortodoxes are only a few of the roman – byzantine mosaics that makes this little town in Romagna famous worldwide. It’s also possible for our guests to enjoy a mosaics making laboratory or appreciate how the art of mosaics is still living today with modern art and craft. The tour goes on in Venice to see the best mosaics present in Basilica of Saint Marc and the mosaics of 1100th and 1200th century in Santa Maria Assunta Church over the little island of Torcello. Aquileia and Grado are tiny towns that few know but they absolutely deserve a stop for its floor mosaics that dates between 400th and 600th ad. Two final steps of this journey are in Trieste and Parenzo (in Croatia) where the visit of Cathedral of San Giusto and Basilica Eufrasiana complete the experience.
