Interrupted perspectives in a search for De Chirico
Can the metaphysics of De Chirico’s language be traced in the silence of places today? Can we too perceive a dimension of mystery and immateriality? What inspired this maestro? In Milan we come across glimpses of loggias and galleries, silent spaces with irregular perspectives, architectural stages with rhythm and geometrics. Architectures with incongruent, almost impossible, perspective and open spaces in the city created with separate elements, where a mysterious harmony however reigns: colonnades and houses with arches, palazzos and small piazzas. In a search for the imagination of De Chirico, once we remove the traffic, it is not difficult to trace the estranged lines of his “Town Squares”.
